Vernon Henry Lindaman, 80, of Cedar Falls, died of natural causes on Monday, May 4, 2009, at the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home.

He was born December 10, 1928 in Grundy County, Iowa, the son of Henry and Dena (Oelmann) Lindaman. Vernon married Mae Andreessen on August 20, 1948 in Stout, Iowa.

Vernon worked for forty-six years at Viking Pump Company in Cedar Falls, retiring in February of 1992. He was a charter member of Orchard Hill Reformed Church in Cedar Falls since 1962. He enjoyed fishing, building birdhouses and watching sports. He will always be remembered for his good sense of humor, his love for his family and his unconditional love for his wife.

Survivors include his wife, Mae Lindaman, of Cedar Falls; three sons: James (Cindy) Lindaman of Ankeny, Iowa, Darrell (Debra) Lindaman of Waterloo, and Daniel (Joan) Lindaman of Cedar Falls; his daughter, Jane (Rick) Rundell, of Knoxville, Tennessee; two foster sons, Bradley Bigelow of Fresno, California and Jon (Bobbi) O’Brien of Houston, Texas; eleven grandchildren: Chyanne, Chelsie and James Lindaman, Dustin (Santana) Lindaman, Melissa (Shawn) Koenen and Megan Lindaman, Brandon (Rachael) Lindaman, Erica (Matt) Bruns and Jordan Lindaman, Belicia (Matt) Barker, Keelin O’Brien; six great grandchildren: Camden and Caelor Koenen, Brooklyn Danielsen, Jack and Charlize Lindaman and Lakin Bruns, and a brother, Larry (Ethel) Lindaman, of Waterloo.

Vernon was preceded in death by his parents, a son, David Lee Lindaman, a brother, William Lindaman, and a sister, Elvina Saathoff.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 8, 2009, at Orchard Hill Church in Cedar Falls, with burial at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Stout Cemetery in Stout, Iowa. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, and one hour before service at the church. Memorials may be directed to the family.
