Jeanne (Smith) Nielsen, 82, of Cedar Falls, died Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2000, at Sartori Memorial Hospital from complications of influenza.

She was born July 10, 1917, in Waverly, daughter of Lawrence and Gertrude Ogbin Smith. She married Ross A. Nielsen on March 25, 1940.

Mrs. Nielsen was president of both the UNI Faculty Dames Club and the Waterloo Kennel Club.

Survived by her husband; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Kay Valo.

Services: There will be no visitation or services, her body was cremated. Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be directed to Jeanne Smith Nielsen Collection at Plainfield Public Library, Plainfield, or Ross and Jeanne Scholarship Fund at the University of Northern Iowa Foundation.
