MRS. SARAH E. WOOD
Mrs. Sarah E. Wood, 1626 Bluff Street, died at 4:40 a. m. Saturday in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Fred Leland, 1708 Commercial Street, where she had been residing since April 19. She was 85 years old.
She was born Dec. 12, 1856, at Flint, Mich., as Sarah Cratsley, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Cratsley. On July 3, 1873, she was married in Waterloo to Jesse H. Wood, who died several years ago. Mrs. Wood had lived in Waterloo for 75 years. She came here from Michigan in a covered wagon.
Surviving are three daughters and three sons: Mrs. Leland; Mrs. Anna Bucklin of Magnolia parkway; Mrs. Frank Atkins, Cedar Rapids, la.; George J. Wood, 1513 Newell Street; H. J. Wood. 1614 Bluff, and J. C. Wood, 1628 Bluff. There are also 22 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Five daughters are dead.
Mrs. Wood was a member of Union Gospel Church.
The body was taken to Kearns Garden chapel. The funeral will be conducted at 2 p. m. Monday in Union Gospel church by Rev. Ivan Bachtell, pastor. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Six grandsons will be casket bearers. The body will be taken to Mrs. Wood's residence, 1626 Bluff street, at 10 a. m. today.
