HUDSON - Marilyn A. Shipanik, 67, of Hudson died Friday, April 14, 2006, at her home.

She was born June 17, 1938, in Waterloo, daughter of Christy Theodore and Velma Blocker Marsau. She married Don Shipanik on Nov. 4, 1958, in Iowa City.

She graduated from West High School in 1955 and from the University of Iowa in 1960 with a bachelor's degree in elementary education. Mrs. Shipanik taught in Waterloo Community Schools, owned and taught in private preschool in Waterloo and owned and operated with her husband Hudson House Restaurant from 1982 until it burned down in 2003. Later she did substitute teaching in the Waterloo and Hudson school systems.

She was a member of Junior League, Chapter IX of PEO, past president of Hudson Chamber of Commerce and served on the Hudson Park and Recreation Commission. She was a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church, Cedar Falls, where she was active in the Stephens Ministry.

Survived by her husband; three daughters, Liz (Dan) Folladori, Suzy Hall and Katie (Perry) Oglesbee, all of Hudson; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her parents.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Nazareth Lutheran Church, Cedar Falls, with burial preceding the service in Memorial Park Cemetery, Waterloo. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Locke Funeral Home, Waterloo.
