Cecil Ray Taber, 47, of 742 Evans Road, Evansdale, died of carcinoma at 6 a.m. Monday at St. Francis Hospital.
The son of Elmer and Edith McBride Taber, he was born March 9, 1909 at Anamosa. He had been employed for 25 years at Northwestern Bell Telephone Company. He was a storekeeper at the time he retired because of ill health.
On June 21, 1930 he married Miss Lorene A. Johnson. During World War II he served with the armed forces from 1943 to 1946, serving in the European theater and participating in the Battle of the Bulge.
He was member of St Paul's Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife, one son, Raymond of Aurora Minnesota, one daughter, Eleanor at home, and two brothers Harry, 1910 Plainview Ave, and Ralph 731 Newton Street.
The body is at O'Keefe & Towne Funeral Home, where funeral arrangements are pending.
