WATERLOO — Dennis Alan Walton, 76, of Waterloo, died Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013, at Parkview Nursing and Rehab Center of cancer
He was born Aug. 14, 1947, in Mason City, son of Grant and Evelyn Juhl Walton. He married Darlene Monroe in October 1980. She died April 13, 2012.
Mr. Walton graduated from Waterloo East High School in 1965 then served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. He worked for a funeral home and ambulance service in Council Bluffs; was an over-the-road trucker with Coca-Cola for 10 years; cooked at Porky’s Red Carpet, Waterloo; moved to Ackley and operated Ackley Pizza and Steak; returned to Waterloo and ran the Opera House and Rumors Bar and Grill; worked for Real Estate “R” Us; and later was a handyman for the House Doctor until ill health forced his retirement.
Survived by a stepson, Charles (Betty) Kutin of Marion; two stepdaughters, Joyce (Rick) Kutin of Cedar Rapids and Phyllis Kutin of Los Angeles; a sister, Diane Harn of Waterloo; four stepgrandchildren; and several stepgreat-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by a daughter, Kathy.
There will be no services. Burial will be at a later date in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Parrott and Wood Chapel of Memories, an Overton Family Service, is assisting the family.
