Dorothy Farber, 87, of Waterloo died Friday, September 12, 2003 at Friendship Village.

She was born January 28, 1916 in Waterloo, Iowa, the daughter of George E. and Elizabeth (Leask) Hermann.

She graduated from Waterloo West High School in 1934 and then went to work for Rath Packing Company in Waterloo. Dorothy married Second Lt. William J. Farber on June 18, 1945 in Jacksonville, North Carolina. They later moved to Independence, Iowa where she was a librarian for 22 years, retiring in 1988.

She is survived by her husband, William, of Waterloo; two sons, George R. (Gail) Farber of Waterloo and Charles W. Farber of Roseville, Minnesota; two daughters, Elizabeth C. and Martha R. Farber, both of Waterloo; a granddaughter, Gwen Farber of Waterloo; and four brothers, George W. (Mary) Hermann of Macomb, Illinois, Leask H. (Ruth) Hermann of Sun City West, Arizona, Edgar W. (Pat) Hermann of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Philip D. Hermann of Waterloo.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Charles R. and Stanley R. Hermann.

Funeral services were 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, September 17, 2003 at Bethany Bible Chapel with burial in Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery.
