A PIONEER RESIDENT DIES
MRS. MARGARET MARTIN
Moved to This City 34 Years Ago-
Passed Away of Heart Trouble Yesterday
Afternoon—Was Fifty-Six
Years of Age.(From Saturday's Daily) About 3:00 o'clock yesterday afternoon another pioneer resident of this city, Mrs. Margaret Martin, answered to the call of the grim reaper. Death occurred at the family home, 119 Vine Street of heart disease. Deceased was first attacked by the ailment which eventually caused hex death about four years ago. Two succeeding attacks followed, one last spring and the other a week ago last Friday. She apparently got better the latter part of the week, but yesterday grew worse and at 3:00 o'clock had passed away. Although her relatives were advised that she was quite sick, yet they did not think her illness would terminate fatally, and were unprepared for the end.
Mrs. Martin was well known In this city, having resided here for a period of more than thirty-four years. She settled here when Waterloo was a comparatively small village, and watched its many steps of progress with evident satisfaction. Her life was used in endeavoring to benefit humanity and her days were not spent in vain. She was a member of the Methodist church and Eastern Star society.
Mrs. Margaret Martin was born In Halifax, Nova Scotia, 56 years ago. When 18 years of age she moved to Boston, where a few years later she was united in marriage to Henry Martin, who preceded her to the grave about ten years ago.
Deceased is survived by a sister in New York, a sister in Boston and a brother and sister in Halifax. Three sons also survive the mother. They are Hope C., Lucius H. and Frank A. of this city.
