WATERLOO — Ross J. Truax, 81, of Waterloo, died Monday, Jan. 14, 2013, at Allen Hospital after a sudden illness.
He was born May 5, 1931, in Mobridge, S.D., son of Ross and Olga Wilsen Truax. He married Winifred H. Bruns on Dec. 14, 1952, in Waterloo.
He served in the Army from 1950 to 1952 during the Korean Conflict. He also went on the honor flight for Korean War Veterans on Sept. 18, 2012. Mr. Truax was the office manager for Illinois Central Railroad for 43 years, retiring on June 1, 1991.
Survived by his wife; two sons, Todd (Lori) of Cave Creek, Ariz., and Scott (Denise) of La Porte City; a brother, Robert (Maria) of Nogales, Ariz.; a sister, Jean (Bud) McBride of Evergreen, Colo.; seven grandchildren, David, Mallory, Whitney, Samuel, Kara, Daniel and Megan; and six great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his parents.
Private graveside services: will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel on Kimball is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be directed to Cedar Bend Humane Society.
Ross enjoyed golfing and fishing.
