Paul R. Binek, age 85, of Verndale, Minn., formerly of Waterloo, passed away at the Lakewood Care Center on Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013. Private family services will be held at a later date.

Paul Roscoe Binek was born on Sept. 16, 1927, to Peter and Irene (Canty) Binek, in Osage. He graduated from Waterloo West High School, then he attended college for three years and later became an accountant. On Sept. 11, 1949, he married Dorothy Hauser in Ottumwa, together they lived in Waterloo, and later moved to Louisiana and Arkansas before returning back to Waterloo in 1994. In 2011 he moved to Verndale to spend more time with his son, Paul.

Paul is survived by his three children, Nancy Binek of Eureka Springs, Ark., Paul J. (Charlene) Binek of Verndale and Richard (Lori) Binek of Volcano, Hawaii; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Irene; his wife, Dorothy; three sisters; and one brother.
