CEDAR FALLS — Diana Mae Van Sickle, 65, of Cedar Falls, died Monday, Jan. 14, 2013, at Windsor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Cedar Falls, from complications from a stroke following a lengthy illness with aphasia.
She was born Sept. 20, 1947, in Waterloo, daughter of Howard Sr. and Doris Wheeler Smith. She married Robert Earl Van Sickle Jr. on Sept. 5, 1970, at Grace Lutheran Church, Waterloo.
Mrs. Van Sickle was a 1965 graduate of Waterloo West High School and briefly attended Gates Business College, Waterloo (now Hawkeye Community College). She worked for more than 20 years at McKenna Professional Imaging, Waterloo, where she was a bookkeeper and later a purchasing/resale agent, retiring in 2002 for health reasons. She was a member of the Prairie Rose Chapter of the Embroiders Guild of America and the local Keepsake Quilters chapter, as well as St. John Lutheran Church, Cedar Falls, where she occasionally taught Sunday school in kindergarten, first and second grades.
Survived by her husband; two sons, Eric and Scot, both of Cedar Falls; her mother of Cedar Falls; a brother, Howard Smith Jr. of Henderson, Nev.; four nieces and a nephew.
Preceded in death by her father.
Services: 11 a.m. Friday at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Cedar Falls, with burial in Garden of Memories, Waterloo. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, an Overton Family Service, and for an hour before services Friday at the church.
Memorials may be directed to the family.
Diana enjoyed attending her sons’ band, orchestra and choral concerts, sporting events and marching band performances.
