EVANSDALE —Catherine A. “Cathy” Towne, 71, of Evansdale, died at home Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013, from complications of cancer.

She was born Sept. 30, 1941, in Dubuque, daughter of Matthew and Lucille McCauley Cain. She married Anthony Towne on Aug. 1, 1970, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Evansdale.

Mrs. Towne graduated from St. Mary’s High School, Waterloo, in 1959. She was employed at American Color Corp., Cedar Falls, as a supervisor in customer service for 22 years. She also was employed by Dr. M.C. Kayser for 10 years. She was a member of St. Edward Parish, St. Edward Resurrection Choir, Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Covenant Auxiliary and Waterloo Metro Women’s Bowling Association.

Survived by her husband; three brothers: Thomas (Jean) Cain of Hastings, Minn., James (Patricia) Cain of Waterloo and Michael (Maria) Cain of Alicante, Spain; 16 nieces and nephews; and many great-nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by a sister, Mary Blackstock.

Services: 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Edward Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery, both in Waterloo. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, Waterloo, with a 4 p.m. Catholic Daughters of the Americas rosary. Visitation also an hour before services Thursday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to St. Edward Catholic Church Choir or Cedar Valley Hospice.
