Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Oppold Funeral Home for E. Russell Hagerstrom, 52, of 156 Elmridge Road, who died at Scholtz Memorial Hospital at 8:30 p.m. Saturday of a heart attack.

The Rev. R.D. Kitterman, pastor of First United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Friends may call after 5 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Mr. Hagerstrom was born on Aug. 14, 1918, in Cedar Falls, the son of Edward R. and Hazel Spatcher Hagerstrom. He served in the army in World War II, 1942 to 1946 in the Pacific area. He married Helen G. Soppe on May 29, 1944 in Waterloo.

Mr. Hagerstrom worked for the Iowa Public Service Co. for 33 years and was lineman supervisor for the company at the time of his death. He was a member of the electrical workers union.
Surviving are his wife, three sons: Robert of Keikheim, Germany; Donald of the United States Navy Air Station at Lemoore, Calif.; and Lee at home; one daughter, Mrs. Randy Petersen of Cherry Point, N.C.; one grandson, and one brother, James of San Diego, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Robert, killed in action in World War II in the Pacific area.
