HUDSON — Edward M. “Ted” Bowersox, 83, of Hudson, died Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013, at Parkview Manor Nursing Home, Reinbeck.

He was born May 17, 1929, in Waterloo, son of William E. and Bernice D. Hixon Bowersox. He married Phyllis M. Hastings on July 27, 1957, in Harrisville, Mich.

Mr. Bowersox served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean conflict. He was employed as an inspector at John Deere Waterloo Tractor Works for 39 years, retiring in 1987.

Survived by his wife; a son, Dr. Daniel (Jill) Bowersox of Louisville, Ky.; a daughter-in-law, Karen S. Bowersox of Grimes; three grandchildren, Anne, Sam and Shelby Bowersox; three stepgrandchildren, Kirk, Ross and Jamie Shelby; and a stepgreat-granddaughter, Addison Shelby.

Preceded in death by a son, Thomas; a brother, William; a sister, Irma Barton; and a grandson, Alex Bowersox.

Services: 4:30 p.m. Saturday at Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel, Waterloo. Visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Military rites will be conducted by Hudson AMVETS Post 82.

Memorials may be directed to the Hudson Library or Hudson Education Fund.
