GARNER, HURM, OCONNELL, BOYD, LOFTUS

Dr. Harold M. Garner, 49, of 911 South street, died of a heart attack at 5:30 a.m. Thursday at Clairview Hospital, Davenport, Ia., where he had been a patient for a week.

He was born Jan. 31, 1900, at Glidden, Ia., the son of George and Myrtle Garner. He spent his early life at Glidden, Tama, Ial, and Marshalltown, Ia. He attended Cornell college, Mt. Vernon, Ia., and the Palmer School of Chiropractic, Davenport.

Dr. Garner practiced at Davenport, Lansing, Ia., and La Porte City, Ia., before coming to Waterloo nine years ago.

He married Florence Hurm on Jan. 31, 1927, at Lansing. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Izaak Walton league and St. Edward's Catholic church.

Surviving are his wife; three sons: Thomas and Joseph, at home, and George, a student at Palmer School of Chiropractic, Davenport; a daughter, Mrs. John O'Connell, 21 North Hackett road; two brothers, Fred of Denver, Colo., and Ralph of San Francisco, Cal.; two sisters, Mrs. Grace Boyd, of Davenport, and Mrs. Ward Loftus, of Tama, and one grandson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, George, who died in navy service during World War II.

The body of Dr. Garner is being brought to Ray Hurley funeral home where funeral arrangments are pending.

Funeral services for Dr. Harold M. Garner, 49, of 911 South street who died of a heart attack Thursday at Clairview hospital, Davenport, Ia., will be at 9 a.m. Monday at St. Edward's Catholic church.

Rev. Fr. Richard Krapfel will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet cemetery.

The St. Edward's Rosary society will meet at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the Ray Hurley funeral home to recite the rosary.
