EVANSDALE — Melvin C. Lambert Jr., 87, of Waterloo, formerly of Evansdale, died Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012, at home at Ridgeway Place, Waterloo, of heart failure.

He was born Aug. 18, 1925, in Des Moines, son of Melvin C. Sr. and Lenor A. Dwyer Lambert. He married Phyllis I. Hunziker on April 19, 1952, in Manchester. She died Sept. 3, 2008.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Mr. Lambert was a foreman at Rath Packing Co. for 41 years, retiring in 1982.

Survived by a brother, David R. (Edith) of Winchester, Va.; and a sister, Patricia A. (Rudy) Oesterle of Waterloo.

Services: 10 a.m. Thursday at Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel on Kimball, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Visitation will be for an hour before services Thursday at the funeral home.
