CEDAR FALLS - Karl Thomas Gilbertson, 64, of Cedar Falls, died Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2012, at Methodist Hospital, Rochester, Minn.

He was born Aug. 9, 1948, in Decorah, son of Orin and Vera Knox Gilbertson. He married Barbara McCannon on March 20, 1971, in Ames.

Mr. Gilbertson graduated from De Sales High School in 1966 and in 1975 he received his bachelor's degree in industrial administration and accounting from Iowa State University. He worked for Tyler Technologies as a software specialist. He was active in Boy Scouts, Republican State Central Committee, the Black Hawk County Republican Committee and Orchard Hill Church.

Survived by his wife; two sons, Matthew of Gurnee, Ill., and David of Kansas City, Mo.; a brother, John (Sissy Young) of Tucumcari, N.M.; and a sister, Anne Gilbertson of Decorah.

Preceded in death by his parents.

Services: 11 a.m. Saturday at Orchard Hill Church, with inurnment in Fairview Cemetery at a later date. Visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home.

Memorials: may be directed to Gift of Life Transplant House, Rochester.
