Bert J. Allen, 77, of 324 Linden Ave., died at St. Francis Hospital Sunday night

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. John's Catholic Church with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Rosary will be 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Oppold Funeral Home, where friends may call after noon Tuesday.

He was born Dec. 12. 1899. near Dunkerton, son of August and Flo Moulds Allen. He married Hannah Erbstoesser at Moorhead, Minn., June 8. 1927. She died in 1949. He married Mary Steffen Duffy Oct. 6. 1954, in Waterloo.

He worked for the Chicago Great Western Railroad as a section foreman for many years and later was a custodian at Columbus High School, retiring in 1965.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Robert J. of Fargo. N.D.; a daughter, Mrs. Albert Strubel of Baraboo, Wis.; nine grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ernest (Bob) of Fairbank, and George of Davenport; three sisters: Mrs. Mary Triplett and Mrs. Gladys Young, both of Davenport; and Mrs. Earl McKinley of Anaheim. Calif.

Memorials may be made to Columbus High School.
