WATERLOO — Richard “Dick” Garrison, 78, of Bridges Senior Living, died Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2012, at Allen Hospital.

He was born July 14, 1934, in Cedar Falls, son of Arthur and Edna Kelly Garrison. He married Dorothy Jean Westergaard on March 13, 1955, in Waterloo.

Mr. Garrison was co-owner of Ben & Dick’s Automotive Co. for 53 years until its closing in 2010. He was a member of the USCA Iowa Sidecar Club and Venture Touring Society.

Survived by his wife; two daughters, Luann (Alan) Long of Waterloo and Nancy (Danny Sinnes) Christensen of Port Angeles, Wash.; two sons, Larry (Andrea) of Stewartville, Minn., and Neal (Stephanie) of Cedar Falls; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; four brothers: David of Wisconsin Dells, Wis., John (Barb) of Medina, Okla., and Bill (Lois) and Stan (Ginnie), both of Waterloo; and a sister, Shirley (Larry) Cain of Cedar Falls.

Preceded in death by a grandson, James Christensen; a brother, Donald “Butch;” and a sister-in-law, Kathy Garrison.

Memorial services: 11 a.m. Monday at Westminster Presbyterian Church. Visitation from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Locke Funeral Home.

Memorials may be directed to the church or Antique Acres.

Dick enjoyed working on and riding his Goldwing motorcycles.
