WATERLOO, IOWA — Aurelia A. “Rally” O’Brien, 93, of Waterloo, died Wednesday, December 19, 2012, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home.

She was born May 17, 1919, in Festina, daughter of Anthony and Mary Moser Buchheit. She married James A. O’Brien on Jan. 11, 1954, in Decorah. He died July 18, 1997.

She earned her registered nurse degree from St. Francis School of Nursing, La Crosse, Wis., and furthered her education at St. Louis University. She was employed with Allen Hospital, Waterloo, as head nurse on a surgical floor. She was a member of Catholic Order of Foresters, Catholic Daughters and Rosary Society.

Survived by two sons, Mike (Brenda) of Waterloo and Mark of Cedar Rapids; a daughter, Mary (James) Scullin of Cedar Falls; three grandchildren, Matt (Laura) O’Brien of Waterloo and Molly and Erica Scullin of Cedar Falls; and a brother, Mark Buchheit of West Union.

Preceded in death by a sister, Sister Teresa Buchheit F.S.E.; and six brothers: Richard, Urban, Florian, Norbert, Remigius and Nilus Buchheit.

Services: 10 a.m. Monday at St. Stephen the Witness Catholic Student Center on the University of Northern Iowa campus, Cedar Falls, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Waterloo. Visitation from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Richardson Funeral Service, where there will be a 4 p.m. vigil service. Visitation also for an hour before services Monday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice, St. Patrick Catholic Church or St. Stephen Catholic Student Center.
