WATERLOO, IOWA — Edward Pauley, 69, of Waukon, formerly of Waterloo, died Friday, Dec. 21, 2012, at Veterans Memorial Hospital, Waukon, from a sudden illness.

He was born Aug. 3, 1943, in Alum Creek, W.Va., son of Emanuel and Clarice Hatfield Pauley. He married Pamela Feller on Oct. 3, 1967, in Washburn.

Mr. Pauley was employed as a cement finisher at John Deere, retiring in 1991. He then was a self-employed concrete worker.

Survived by his wife; a son, Tony (Jennifer) of Waterloo; two daughters, Traci (Don) Talaska of Waterloo and Tammi (Keith) Foster of Riceville; nine grandchildren: Scotty (Stephanie), Bailey, Kolton and Emily Pauley, Courtney Wagens, Reese and Rylee Talaska, and Matthew and Kelsey Foster; three great-grandchildren, Ricky, Annarose and Abram Pauley; his mother of Hurricane, W.Va.; a brother, David (Genelea) of West Virginia; and three sisters: Lou Dearman, Sue (Jack Bennet) Kopniski and Karen Pauley, all of West Virginia.

Preceded in death by his father; stepfather, Ted Hatfield; and a sister, Diane Pauley.

Memorial services: 7 p.m. Wednesday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, where visitation begins at 4 p.m., with inurnment at a later date in West Virginia.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

Eddie was a devoted father, husband, and grandfather. He dearly loved his cat, Meowy, who brought great joy to his life. He was an avid outdoorsman who was happiest fishing on the Mississippi River with his family.
