WATERLOO, Iowa — George A. Stevens, 85, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Waterloo, died Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012, at Hiawatha Care Center.

He was born April 10, 1927, in Cedar Falls, son of George A. and Anna Hundertmark Stevens. He married Zelda Postel on June 11, 1955, at First Baptist Church, Waterloo. She died Aug. 15, 2003.

He graduated from Teachers College High School in 1945 and received a bachelor's degree in business from Iowa State Teachers College in 1951. He served in the U.S. Navy in Japan during World War II. Mr. Stevens worked for Good Year, Armstrong and Mohawk Tire companies and Santa Claus Industries. He earned his Realtor license and worked for Campbell Homes, Winninger Realtors and Four Seasons Realtors. He also was a licensed Iowa Real Estate Appraiser. He was a member of Cedar Heights Baptist Church.

Survived by two daughters, Patricia (John) Mauser of Indianapolis and Gayle (Paul) Wilcox of Cedar Rapids; a son, Eric Alton of Marion; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Wilma Schnathorst and Frances Schaack.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at Cedar Heights Baptist Church, Cedar Falls, preceded by an hour of visitation, with burial in Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery with full military rites. Locke Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be directed to Waterloo-Cedar Falls Board of Realtors Continuing Education or Friends of Decorah Fish Hatchery.
