WATERLOO - Sara Jane McElhaney, 95, formerly of Waterloo, died May 1, 2001 at Presbyterian Village North retirement community, Dallas, of natural causes.

She was born Sept. 18, 1905, in Waterloo, daughter of Harvey J. and Nettie Wenner Hess. She married Lewis Keck McElhaney on Dec. 25, 1932. He preceded her in death.

Mrs. McElhaney graduated from Iowa State University and taught in Milwaukee schools until her retirement in 1971.

Survived by two sons, John H. of Dallas, and James W. of Cleveland Heights, Ohio; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Memorial services: 11 a.m. May 19 at Wynne Chapel of Highland Park Presbyterian Church, Dallas. She willed her body to Southwestern Medical School, and private burial of cremains will be later.
