David Eugene Brandhorst, 57, of Hudson, Iowa, died after a lengthy battle with cancer on Wednesday, October 10, 2007, at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo.

He was born September 8, 1950 in Cedar Falls, Iowa, the son of Donald C. and Margaret (Andersen) Brandhorst. David was a graduate of Hudson High School and was a self-employed carpenter and subcontractor. He was a member of Willow Run Country Club in Denver, Iowa and enjoyed golfing. David was a fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes, the New York Yankees and NASCAR. He was a loving son, father, grandfather, brother and friend.

Survivors include his son, Chad (Janell) Brandhorst, of Ankeny, Iowa; his daughter, Christine Blain, of Eldon, Missouri; his mother, Margaret Brandhorst, of Hudson; his special friend and companion, Beverly Donovan, of Hudson; three grandchildren, Dominic James Aubuchon of Old Monroe, Missouri, Kaylie Marie and Andrew David Brandhorst, both at home in Ankeny, Iowa; a brother, Gary (Karen) Brandhorst, of Hudson, and a sister, Connie (Russ) Wasendorf, of Cedar Falls.

David was preceded in death by his father.

Services will be 10:30 am Saturday, October 13, 2007, at Zion Lutheran Church, with interment at Zion Lutheran Cemetery, both in rural Hudson. Visitation will be 4—8:00 pm Friday, October 12, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home in Cedar Falls, and one hour before service at the church.

A memorial fund will be established.
