CEDAR FALLS — Rick Jay Bauer, 50, of Zionsville, Ind., formerly of Cedar Falls, died at home Monday, Dec. 3, 2012.

He was born July 3, 1962, in Cedar Falls, son of Gerald and Allene Degener Bauer. He was a 1980 graduate of Cedar Falls High School and earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in environmental science from the University of Northern Iowa. He was an energy efficiency specialist for many years at Purdue University.

Survived by his parents of Cedar Falls; a brother, Dan (Lesley) of New Richmond, Wis.; a sister, Teri (Ray) Gray of Cedar Falls, and many nieces and nephews.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Nazareth Lutheran Church, Cedar Falls.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

Rick enjoyed Formula 1 and Indy Car racing.
