EVANSDALE — Jeanette Snyder, 83, of Evansdale, died Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home, Waterloo.

She was born Dec. 31, 1928, daughter of William E. and Lucy M. Clark Gielau. She married Wendell E. Snyder on June 14, 1948, at Grace Lutheran Church, Waterloo. He died Sept. 6, 2003.

Mrs. Snyder graduated from Waterloo East High School in 1947. She was an office clerk at Power Manufacturing, retiring in 1990. She was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, where she was active with the women of the church, quilting and the national organization Women of Faith.

Survived by four sons: Anthony (Fran) Urbana, Daniel (Deb) of Dunkerton, Joel (Jill) of Waterloo and Randall (Josephine) of Winterset; a daughter, Wendy (Mike) Castleman of Corsicana, Texas; 14 grandchildren, Jeff, Janice, Tony (Emily), Jason (Jerra), Andy (Kelli), Chris (Jamie), Stacey, Eric, David and Lynnette (Jayson Crawford) Snyder, and Cody, Matt, Jonathan and Bree Castleman; 13 great-grandchildren, Brenden and Madison Fischels, Justina, Josie, Jacob, Mackenzie, Cole, Joseph, Colin, Sarah, Summer and Lauren Snyder, and Neya Crawford; and a sister, Madeline Gielau of Evansdale.

Preceded in death by three brothers: LeRoy, Gerald and James Gielau.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Evansdale, with burial in Fairview Cemetery, Waterloo. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Locke Funeral Home, Waterloo.

Memorials may be directed to the church.
