HUDSON — Donn E. Lorenzen, 78, of Hudson, died Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, from acute leukemia.

He was born June 10, 1934, on the family farm near Reinbeck, son of Elmer and Ada Hanisch Lorenzen. He married Marian Philp on June 20, 1954, in Reinbeck.

Mr. Lorenzen graduated from Reinbeck High School in 1952 and from Iowa State University in 1956 with a degree in farm operation. He worked at John Deere for 40 years, mainly in diesel engine development at the Product Engineering Center. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church.

Survived by his wife; three sons: Randy (Patti) of Cedar Falls, Kurt (Leta) of Olathe, Kan., and Jerry (Reenee) of Fremont; two daughters, Jody (Ken) Evans of Atoka, Tenn., and Lisa (Scott) Dahl of Ames; eight grandchildren; two brothers, Russell (Fran) of Ventura and Loren (Luane) of Traer; and two sisters, June (Roger) Meikle of Sturgeon Bay, Wis., and Sandra Seemann of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by his twin brother, William.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Reinbeck, with burial in Reinbeck Cemetery. Visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at French-Hand Funeral Home, Reinbeck.
