CEDAR FALLS — Martin J. Roan, 90, of Sun City West, Ariz., formerly of Cedar Falls, died Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012.

He was born Dec. 16, 1921, in Keokuk, son of Martin J. and Inez Rovane Roan. He married Mary L. Hixson in February 1947.

Mr. Roan graduated from St. Peter’s High School, Keokuk, and attended Iowa Wesleyan College. He had a career in the insurance business, which included three years with Metropolitan Life Insurance, then was self employed in Roan and Roost Insurance Agency. He represented several insurance companies as a field agent. He became manager of the insurance department of Iowa Securities, Waterloo, which became Norwest Corp., then Wells Fargo, retiring in 1986 as vice president of Norwest. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and was a member of St. Patrick’s Parish, Knights of Columbus, American Legion, Lions Club, UNI Athletic Board and past president of Beaver Hills Country Club.

Survived by his wife; two daughters, Jenifer Roan of Minneapolis and Angela (Brian) Inloes of Delafield, Wis.; and three grandchildren, Emma, John and Mary Inloes.

Preceded in death by two brothers, Jack and Robert.

Services: 10 a.m. Dec. 22 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Sun City West, with burial and full military services at the Pavilion of Honor, Camino Del Sol Funeral Home, also in Sun City West.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the local St. Vincent de Paul Society or the American Heart Association.
