Alma Marie Sprague, 86, of Waterloo, died Friday, February 16, 2007, at Covenant Medical Center. She was born June 11, 1920 in West Point Township, daughter of John and Ella Gallmeyer Ackerman.

She married Wayne Smith Oct. 22, 1938, in Clarksville. He died Jan. 21 1973. She married Gordon Sprague Nov. 12, 1977, in Denver. He died June 28 1990.

Alma was employed with the Clarksville Canning Factory and later with Arends Nursing Home Clarksville until her retirement. She then volunteered at Kimball Ridge Senior Center and Ridgeway Towers.

Survivors include a son Dean (Joan) Smith of Waterloo; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ivan (Kathy) Ackerman of Clarksville, and Johnny (Carol) Ackerman of Denve;r two sisters, Evelyn (Dick) Beenken of Parkersburg, and Lois Sharp of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by two sons, Ronnie and Gary Smith; a daughter Judy Wilcox; an infant great-granddaughter; two brothers, Raymond Ackerman and a brother in infancy and two sisters, Arlene Clark and Leone Rinerson.

Services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday at New Beginnings First Wesleyan Church with burial in Lyn-Wood Cemetery Clarksville. Public visitation will be from 4:00 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Hagarty Waychoff Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway and for an hour before services on Friday at the church.

Memorials may be made to the family.
