CEDAR FALLS — Mary A. Runyan, 86, of Cedar Falls, died Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home, Waterloo, following a sudden stroke.

She was born Sept. 25, 1926, in Waterloo, daughter of Samuel and Anna Bartles Soteros. She married Darwin J. Runyan on March 8, 1945, and they later divorced.

She graduated from Pitze’s School of Beauty. Mrs. Runyan was employed with Rath Packing and then owned and operated Mary’s Beauty Salon.

Survived by a son, Sam of Cedar Falls; a daughter, Angie (Jeff) Runyan Berg of Waimanalo, Hawaii; a special companion, John H. "J.B." Bartling of Cedar Falls; three grandchildren, Chris Runyan, Josh (Tana) Runyan and Tony (Laura) Runyan; and six great-grandchildren, Meghan and Jessie and their mother, Becky Runyan, and Sydney, Abby Jo, Olivia and Garret.

Preceded in death by two sisters, Freda Fowler and Georgia Deloff; four brothers, Nick, Daniel "Snike", James and Tony Sotoros.

Services: 11 a.m. Monday at First Presbyterian Church, Cedar Falls, with inurnment in Garden of Memories Mausoleum at a later date. Visitation from 1 to 4 p.m. today at Richardson Funeral Service and also for an hour before services Monday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice.
