WATERLOO — Alice V. Tate, 98, of Waterloo, died Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012, at Manor Care of natural causes.

She was born May 29, 1914, in Oneida, daughter of Axel and Ella Mattson Swanson. She married Filmore J. Tate on Nov. 23, 1935, in Manchester. He died Nov. 2, 1996.

Mrs. Tate worked at Johnson’s Bakery for over 20 years, retiring in 1974.

Survived by a son, James (Jean) of Waterloo; two daughters, Barb Culbertson of Waterloo and Donna (Tom) Patterson of Hiawatha; a brother, John LeRoy (Una) Swanson of Manchester; a sister, Verna Ahrens of Coppers Cove, Texas; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by two brothers, Harold and Richard; a sister, Florence Swanson in infancy; and a grandson.

Services: 11 a.m. Monday at Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel on Kimball, preceded by an hour of visitation, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
