CEDAR FALLS — Robert L. “Bob” Kindig, 89, of Nevis, Minn., formerly of Cedar Falls, died Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012, at Knapp Medical Center, Weslaco, Texas.

He was born June 15, 1923, in Burlington, son of Louis and Sarah Fetzer Kindig. He married Theresa Loos on April 14, 1945, in Burlington.

Mr. Kindig served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He taught history and government in the Cedar Falls Community School District for more than 33 years, retiring in 1982.

Survived by his wife; a son, Bruce (Connie) of Davenport; a daughter, Valerie (David) Heisterkamp of Cedar Falls; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by a son, Gregory; and a sister, Wilma Lippert.

Services: 11 a.m. Saturday at St. John Lutheran Church, with burial at Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens. Military honors will be conducted by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, and for an hour before services Saturday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to Disabled American Veterans or the Salvation Army.
