WATERLOO — Mary Lou Sawyer, 82, of Waterloo, died Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2012, at Friendship Village Health Center of natural causes.

She was born Oct. 1, 1930, in Waterloo, daughter of Herbert and Esther Sackett Krantz. She married Don E. Sawyer on April 22, 1949, in Washburn.

Mrs. Sawyer graduated from Waterloo West High School in 1948. She worked at Wheeler Motor Co., then was the secretary at Grace Brethren Church. She later served as executive secretary in the city of Waterloo Engineering Office until retirement. She was a member of Grace Brethren Church.

Survived by her husband; two daughters, Melissa Hopkins of Dubuque and Melody (David) Henry of Foley, Minn.; three grandchildren, Alanna, Mariah and Jordan; and three sisters, Patricia (Marty) Dickey of Waterloo, and Nancy (Gary) Lichty and Bonnie (Lee) Nichols, both of La Porte City.

Preceded in death by an infant brother.

Services: 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Locke Funeral Home, Waterloo, with burial in West View Cemetery, La Porte City. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
