WATERLOO - David Alan Abbott, 51, of Waterloo, died Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012 at Harmony House Health Care Center.

He was born Dec. 10, 1960, in Waterloo, son of Dean and Lois Ott Abbott. He attended River Hills Special Needs School in Cedar Falls, then transferred to Comprehensive Care, Charles City, until 1982. He then found a home at Harmony House.

Survived by his father and stepmother, Dean and Alice Abbott of Ridgeway; five brothers: Dan (Diane) of Waterloo, Rick (Rose) of Waukon, Royce (Charity) of Simpsonville, S.C., Chauncey of Cresco and Dwight of Mason City; two sisters, Joy (Bob) Wright of Ankeny and Sonja (Stan) Brown of Minburn; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his mother.

Services: 11 a.m. Thursday at Lindstrom Funeral Home, Cresco, with burial in Ridgeway Cemetery, Ridgeway. Visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

During his 30 years at Harmony House, David was well known for his happy smile, friendly ways and love of cars, people and "peppy music." Many staff and residents stopped by David's room to say goodbye and share their happy David memories.
