WATERLOO — Rolland C. Pederson, 86, of Waterloo, died Friday, Nov. 9, 2012 at Covenant Medical Center.

He was born May 5, 1926, in Kenyon, Minn., son of Ole and Ida Skilbred Pederson. He married Margaret L. Gruhlke on Sept. 6, 1953, in Rochester, Minn. She died Sept. 14, 1999.

Mr. Pederson served in the U.S. Navy during World War II from 1944-1946 and the Korean War from 1951-1953. He worked for International Harvester in Waterloo for over 19 years, and then at Marshalltown Truck and Trailer and Sear Automotive Center.

Survived by two daughters, Cheryl Pederson of Brownsville, Minn., and Dana (Terry) Varney of Waterloo; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by an infant daughter, Doris Ann; two sisters, LaVonne Avery and Adelaide Bergevin; and three brothers, Lester, Russell and Norman.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Garden View Chapel Funeral Home, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery with full military honors. Visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday and for an hour before services at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice or Cedar Bend Humane Society.
