Robert L. Baker, 83, of Loveland, Colo., succumbed peacefully to cancer in his home on Sunday, Oct. 28, 2012, with his family by his side. Bob was born May 8, 1929, in Waterloo, to Harold and Edythe Baker.

Volunteering for the Marine Corps at 17, Bob served in Korea and during World War II. He married Corolyn “Corky” Corbett in 1949. Married for 63 years, they raised four children. Bob graduated from Gates Business College, sold life insurance, and built two homes for his family. He worked for Auto Soler, eventually Stanley-Bostitch, selling shoe repair machinery, where he retired in 1995. Bob was proud to have traveled to Washington, D.C., in 2011 on the Honor Flight.

Bob moved to Broomfield, Colo., in 1968, to Estes Park, Colo., in 1985 and to Loveland in 2004. He loved to cook, hike, snowshoe, fish and garden. Bob was an active member of St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church, where he served as a greeter and usher.

Bob is survived by his wife, Corky; his four children and their spouses: Crystal Daum of Niwot, Colo., Roxie and John Stovall of Boulder, Colo., Scott and Rhonda Baker of Broomfield, and Angie and Mike Murphy of Windsor, Colo. Also his four grandchildren, Garin and Ashley Daum of Berthoud, Colo., Annica and Christian Dino of Niwot, Lindsay and Gabriel Sinner of El Cajon, Calif., and Kendrick Daum of Mankato, Minn. Bob had six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy Neuman; his brother, Donald Baker; and his son-in-law, Gary Daum.

Memorial services will be held at St. Bartholomew Episcopal Church, 880 MacGregor Avenue, Estes Park, (970) 586-4504, on Saturday, Nov. 3, at 11 a.m. Memorial services are being handled by Allnutt Funeral Home, (970) 586-3101.
