WATERLOO — Michael L. O’Brien, 61, of Waterloo, died at home Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012.

He was born July 18, 1951, in Waterloo, son of John R. and Charmaine Bacon O’Brien. He married Rita Izer on March 2, 1974, in Waterloo, and they later divorced.

Mr. O’Brien was employed with the U.S. Postal Service, and was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War.

Survived by two daughters, Shannon (Tom) Freed and Carrie (Chad) Mannion, both of Waterloo; two grandchildren, Tyler and Katie Mannion; three sisters, Linda O’Brien (Craig Thompson) of Waterloo, Elizabeth (Steve) Beckman of Apple Valley, Minn., and Barbara (John) Schaefer of New Hope, Minn.; and two brothers, Dennis of Waterloo and Mark (Vickie) of Evansdale.

Preceded in death by his parents.

Services: 3 p.m. Saturday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, where full military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 138, VFW Post 1623 and U.S. Navy Honor Guard. Visitation from 1 p.m. until services Saturday at the funeral home.
