Martha Neufield 99, of Cedar Falls died Tuesday Feb. 24, 2009 at Allen Hospital of natural causes.

She was born June 12, 1909 in La Porte City, the daughter of George Emery and Ida Mae Nutt Rodman McBride.

She married Leo Charles Neufield on Sept. 7, 1927, in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waterloo. He died August 13 1979. Martha was a nanny for 15 years for Don and Phyllis Singer.

Survivors include two daughters Martha (Mogens) Christensen of Cedar Falls and Rosemary (Dick) Speed of Dunkerton; seven grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her parents; her husband Leo; a son Paul; a brother Clifford McBride; three sisters: Effie Mengel, Iliff Fordyce, and Katherine Baldwin; and a grandson Dwayne Speed.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday February 27 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with burial in Calvary Cemetery. Public visitation from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway where there will be a 4 p.m. rosary and 7 p.m. vigil service. Visitation also one hour prior to services Friday at the church.
Memorials may be directed to the church or Cedar Valley Hospice.
