Claude E. Hemsath, 76, of Waterloo died Wednesday September 12, 2007, at Covenant Medical Center. He was born June 26 1931 in Dewar son of Ernest F. and Pearl L. Myers Hemsath.

He married Dorothy M. Krantz June 30 1956 in Waterloo. She died August 26 2004.

Mr. Hemsath was a veteran serving in the U.S. Marines during the Korean War. He was employed with John Deere for 32 years retiring in 1987.

Survivors include four sons: Russell, Jeff, and Rod (Vicki) all of Waterloo, and Steve (Kelly) of Robbinsdale, MN; seven grandchildren: Jamie Hemsath, Jesse Hemsath, Jack Hemsath, Joshua Hemsath, Brett Miller, Sam Edsill, and Dustin Edsill; a brother Donald (Carol) Hemsath of Rowley and three sisters: Katy Marks, Lois Rookaird, and Evelyn (Jack) Winder, all of Cedar Falls.

He was preceded in death by three sisters: Darlene Rigdon, Dorothy Cook, and Betty Knox.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Queen of Peace Catholic Church with burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery where full military rites will be conducted by Waterloo Amvets Post 19 and Evansdale Amvets Post 31.

Public visitation will be from 4:00 7:00 p.m. on Sunday at Hagarty Waychoff Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway where there will be a 4:00 p.m. Rosary and a 6:00 p.m. vigil service.

Visitation also for an hour before services on Monday at the church.

Memorials may be made to Queen of Peace Catholic Church or Cedar Valley Hospice.
