W.C. Bill Palmer, 84, died Wednesday February 18, 2009 at his home.

He was born July 2, 1924 in Arlington, VA, son of Dr. James Williston and Leona Clark Palmer.

He married JoAnne Garvin on June 7, 1946 in Arlington VA. She died in 1979. He then married Betty "B. J." Joan Keefe on May 2, 1980. She died in 2000.

Mr. Palmer owned and operated B & B Office Products in Waterloo. He sold out and retired. Later he worked part-time at Carver Ace Hardware in Cedar Falls. He served the United States Coast Guard during World War II serving in both the European and Pacific Theatres.

He is survived by a son Clark (Melanie) Palmer of Durango, CO; a daughter Lisa (Bill) Bastien of Lakewood, CO; a step-son Shawn (Karen) Keefe of Waterloo; a step-daughter Kelli (Mike) Hunter of Green Bay, WI; ten grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and twin brother Bruce (Peggy) Palmer of McLean, VA.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother-Bryan and a sister Rose Maye Thompson.

Services will be 10:00 am Tuesday at Westminster Presbyterian Church with burial in Fairview Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 pm Monday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway. Visitation also for an hour preceding services at the church. Full military rites will be conducted by the Cedar Falls Amvets Post 49.
Memorials may be made to Cedar Valley Hospice.
