Leon E. Baumeier, 85, of the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home, formerly of Waterloo, died Saturday Feb. 7, 2009 at Allen Memorial Hospital.

He was born Aug. 4, 1923 in Gladbrook, son of Ervin and Genevieve Wilhelmi Baumeier. He married Barbara DeBord on Apr. 4 1946 in Waterloo.

Mr. Baumeier was a veteran of World War II serving in the U. S. Army Air Force. He was employed with John Deere Waterloo Tractor Works for 40 years retiring in 1982. He was a 50 year member of Martin Lodge #624.

Survivors include his wife, two daughters Becky (Phillip) Daugherty of Stoughton, Wis., and Vicki (Gary) Drown of Holt, Michigan; three grandchildren: Gary (Kim), Debbie (Sean), and Darrell and a great grandson Griffin.

Services will be 1:00 p.m. Monday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway with burial in Garden Of Memories Cemetery where full military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 138 and Veteran Of Foreign Wars Post 1623. Public visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home where there will be a 7 p.m. public masonic service. Visitation will continue for one hour before services on Monday.
