Hazel L. Tournier, 78, of Cedar Falls, died Thursday, September 4, 2008, at the Cedar Falls Health Care Center of heart failure.

She was born December 12, 1929 in Mulhull, OK, daughter of Jess and Nola Duckworth Goodman. She married Richard Lee Tournier August 17, 1948 in Walker, MN. He preceded her in death on October 13, 2007.

Mrs. Tournier was a homemaker, co-owner of Tournier Welding and then co-owner of Waterloo Bowl-In. She enjoyed fishing, garage sales, and going to stock car races with her husband, Dick. Hazel was an excellent cook and her Sunday dinners were great. She loved the live music and the younger set during her years at the Bowl-In. People knew they could confide in her and she would not tell their stories to anyone else. Her grandchildren and children were the love of her life.

Survivors include one son, Walter S. (Kathleen) Tournier of Waterloo; one daughter, Diane A. Tournier of Cedar Falls; and three grandchildren, Jay, Lindsey, and Kyle Tournier.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband.

Services will be 2:00 P.M. Monday at Garden View Chapel Funeral Home, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Public visitation will be 5:30 to 8:00 P.M. Sunday and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
