Joseph C. Roethler (1932-2012)

EVANSDALE, IOWA — Joseph Cletus Roethler, 80, died Friday, Nov. 2, at Manor Care Health Services.

He was born May 10, 1932, in Alta Vista, son of Ernest J. and Bernardine Boehmer Roethler.

He married Martha Foote and later divorced. He then married Rose Christopherson and later divorced.

Mr. Roethler was employed in the ham canning department at Rath Meat Packing Plant for 23 years and then for 15 years on the assembly line at John Deere Tractor Manufacturing Co. He also was a self-employed carpenter in the Waterloo area.

He is survived by a son, Michael (Barbara) of Des Moines; two daughters, Roxanne (Gary) Pfab of Dubuque and Ruth Ann (John) Kugel of Madrid; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Patricia Christianson of Waterloo.

He was preceded in death by an infant son, Joseph C.; and two sisters, Margaret Cummings and Marie Roney.

Services Will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, preceded by an hour of visitation, with burial in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Alta Vista.
