WATERLOO — Emma Henrietta Brauhn, 95, of Sioux Rapids, formerly of Waterloo, died Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2012, at Sioux Care Center, Sioux Rapids.

She was born Dec. 17, 1916, on the family farm in St. Elizabeth, Mo., daughter of Joseph and Margaret Holtmeyer. She married Leon H. Brauhn in June 1938 in Paducah, Ky. He died in 1952.

Mrs. Brauhn had worked for the Federal Barge Lines traveling up and down the Mississippi River, then at the Russell-Lamson Hotel, El Mecca Shrine Club, Elks Club and the Holiday Inn in Waterloo and Cedar Falls as a waitress and hostess, retiring in 1992.

She had been a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Survived by two sons, James of Linn Grove and Dr. Richard of Dickinson, N.D.; two daughters, Linda Brauhn Rehorst of Little Lake, Mich., and and Marilyn Brauhn Booth of Ames; and 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by a sister Margaret; and five brothers, Alphonse, Joseph, Frank, Otto and Leo.

Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Waterloo, with burial in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery, Dubuque. Visitation from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, an Overton Family Service, Waterloo, is in charge of arrangements.
