WATERLOO - James G. Carnes, 73, of Waterloo, died at home Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012.

He was born Jan. 19, 1939, in Waterloo, son of Glenn and Margaret Kerkove Carnes. He married Ruth Crow on July 2, 1960, in Waterloo.

Mr. Carnes graduated from Waterloo East High School in 1957 and was employed with Varsity Cleaners for 36 years, retiring in 2000.

Survived by his wife; three sons: Michael (Leigh Anne) of St. Louis, and Brian (Becki) and Scott (Connie Peirce), both of Waterloo; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a brother, Jerry (Hazel) of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by a brother, Glenn.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, where there will be a 7 p.m. vigil service. Visitation also an hour before services Tuesday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
