Christopher J. Niedert, 32, of Waterloo, died Wednesday, August 29, 2012.

He was born August 1, 1980, in Waterloo, son of Lonnie and Pamela Slutter Niedert. He married Maggie Secore September 3, 2002, in Waterloo.

He graduated from Allison High School in 2000. Mr. Niedert served in the U.S. Marine Corps and was a machinist at Hy Pro Mfg. Co.

Survived by his four children: Colton, Tatumn, Carson and Chad; his parents, Lonnie and Pamela Niedert of Waterloo; a brother, Kenneth Nelson of Waterloo; and a sister, Ranae (Mike) Alston of Oklahoma City.

Preceded in death by a brother, Chad Nelson.

Chris had a big heart and was devoted to his children, family, friends and his love of the outdoors. May angels fly and protect him all the way.

Services 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 6, 2012 at Grace Lutheran Church, 1024 West 8th St. in Waterloo, under the auspices of Immanuel Lutheran Church. Visitation 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, September 5th at Locke Funeral Home. Burial, Waterloo Cemetery, Waterloo, Iowa, military rites by Waterloo Amvets Post 19 and Evansdale Amvets Post 31.

Memorials may be made to the family.

Christopher Niedert (1980-2012)

WATERLOO — Christopher Niedert, 32, of Waterloo, died Wednesday, August 29, 2012.

He was born August 1, 1980, in Waterloo, son of Lonnie and Pamela Slutter Niedert.

Preceded in death by a brother, Chad Nelson.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Grace Lutheran Church under the auspices of Immanuel Lutheran Church, with burial in Waterloo Cemetery with military rites by Waterloo AMVETS Post 19 and Evansdale AMVETS Post 31. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Locke Funeral Home.
