HUDSON'S FIRE
CHIEF Stricken

HUDSON- Frank Gutknecht, 64, chief of the Hudson Volunteer Fire Department, suffered a heart attack about 8:15 a.m. Tuesday while the Hudson truck was at the Max Kelly farm, rural Buckingham, fighting a tractor fire, and was dead on arrival at the Schoitz Memorial Hospital in Waterloo about 8:45.

Mr. Gutknecht was a native and lifelong resident of Hudson and had been a member of the volunteer fire department for 38 years. He also operated the Gutknecht Standard Station here.

Surviving are two sons, John and Richard, Hudson, and two grandchildren.

The body is at the Locke Funeral Home in Waterloo pending arrangements.

HUDSON- Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Hudson Community Church for Frank F. Gutknecht, 64, chief of the Hudson Volunteer Fire Department, who died of a heart attack at a fire Tuesday. Burial in the Hudson Cemetery.

Friends may call at Locke Funeral Home in waterloo until 11 a.m. Friday when the casket will be taken to the church in Hudson.

Surviving are two sons Richard H. and Jon, Hudson.

The family suggests that friends who wish may contribute to the memorial fund of the Hudson Community Church.

HUDSON SHELTER TO HONOR FRANK GUTKNECHT

The Hudson Chamber of Commerce and the Volunteer Fire Department are heading up a drive to collect funds to erect a shelter house in the city park. The shelter house is to be a memorial to the late Frank Gutknecht, who was fire chief of the Hudson Volunteer Fire Department. Chief Gutkneclit suffered a fatal heart attack while at a fire last August. He was a native of Hudson. He served for over 38 years as a member of the Hudson Department.

The proposed building will be 38 by 38 feet, and will feature a fireplace, tables, and piped in water. All labor for construction will be donated by men from the community. The building was designed by Donald Petersen of Hudson. Contributions by clubs and individuals have brought the total money collected to over $400, The Memorial Committee consists of Bob Johnson, Cliff Murray and Leo Rhoades, representing the Chamber of Commerce; and Fire Chief John Beck, Norberl Exman and Cecil Holmes, representing the firemen.
