FILLIO, LONEY, SNODDY SMITH

Corvin C. Fillio, age 90, of Cedar Falls, died Wednesday, September 26, 2012 at Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls.

He was born June 4, 1922 in Elkhart, Indiana, the son of Thomas E. and Rose E. Loney Fillio. Corvin graduated from Elkhart (IN.) High School and was a World War II U.S. Navy Veteran. He married Frances M. Snoddy on January 25, 1947 in Jeffersonville, Indiana. She preceded him in death on March 4, 1996.

Corvin worked at Chamberlain Manufacturing in Waterloo and also Monroe, Georgia for 32 years, retiring in 1985. His memberships included the Elk’s Club, Eagle’s Club, Moose Lodge and he was an active member of the Waterloo AMVETS Post 19.

Corvin and his wife spent many happy hours on their houseboat on the Mississippi River near Guttenberg where they spent time fishing and traveling the river. They enjoyed spending the winter months in Texas. Corvin was fond of bowling and liked a good game of golf with his grandsons.

Survivors include a daughter, Peggy (Charlie) Fillio Smith of Waterloo; a son, Greg (Pamela) Fillio of League City, TX; 8 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren and 2 brothers, Rex Fillio and Lloyd (Helen) Fillio, all of Elkhart, Indiana.

Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, September 28, 2012 at Garden of Memories Cemetery. Interment will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery with Full Military Honors accorded by Waterloo AMVETS Post 19 and Evansdale AMVETS Post 31. Public visitation will be held from 1:30-3:00 p.m. Friday at Garden View Chapel.
