Susan K. Mather, age 64, of Waterloo, died Saturday, September 29, 2012 at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City following a sudden illness.

She was born December 20, 1947 in Waterloo, the daughter of Gail E. and Bonnie Phillips Mather. Susan graduated from West High School with the Class of 1966 and also graduated from Pitze’s Beauty School.

Susan worked at Covenant Clinic in Waterloo for 38 years, retiring December 31, 2011. Her family was very important to her and she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Susan enjoyed shopping and traveling.

Survivors include a daughter, Kim Cole (Michael Tovar) of Waterloo; 3 grandchildren: Rachael, Whitney and Kassidy; 4 great grandchildren: Skyler, Jorden, Landon and Aubree; 2 sisters, Sandra Davies of Waterloo and Cindi Higdon of Fort Wayne, IN.; a brother, Thomas Mather of Waterloo and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a grandson, Cory Tovar.

Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at the Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel in Waterloo. Private family inurnment will be held at a later date in the Garden of Memories Cemetery. Public visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 2, 2012 and an hour prior to the services on Wednesday at the Funeral Home.
