WATERLOO — Gloria Esther Holmstrom, 90, of Waterloo, died Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012 at Cedar Valley Hospice Home of natural causes.
She was born April 20, 1922, in Independence, daughter of Reinhardt and Cora Wilson Gramenz. She married Lyle Holmstrom April 17, 1945, at Trinity American Lutheran Church. He died June 20, 2011.
She graduated from Waterloo East High School in 1940. After her children grew, she was a sales associate at Stephen’s Clothing Store in downtown Waterloo. The couple were members of Ascension Lutheran Church.
Survived by three daughters: Pamela (Richard) Gribstad of Bloomington, Minn., Deborah Holmstrom of Edina, Minn., and Cynthia Frederick of Waterloo; four grandchildren: Ben (Nicole) Gribstad of Mountain View, Calif., Nancy (Geoff) Milsow of Blaine, Minn., Allison Frederick of Princeton, N.J., and Ryan Frederick of Minneapolis; five great-grandchildren: Lauren, Sophie and Ella Grace Gribstad, and Max and Anna Milsow; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by four brothers: Orville, Ray, Lloyd and Donald Gramenz; and eight sisters, Hazel Kunkle, Viola McDonald, Evelyn Kunkle, Erma Dickson, Velma Melchert, Lavelle Gramenz, Amber Nicol and Eleanor Bagenstos.
Services: 1 p.m. Monday at Ascension Lutheran Church, with a private family burial in Garden of Memories. Public visitation from 2 to 5 p.m. today at Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, and will continue for an hour before services Monday at the church.
Memorials may be directed to Ascension Lutheran Church, Cedar Valley Hospice or River Hills School.
Gloria loved music and her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
